Timothy Fox is a cofounder and the chief information officer of LegalMation, a legal technology startup that uses artificial intelligence to automate early-stage litigation tasks, including responding to complaints and discovery requests. As the CIO, Fox uses his legal expertise and background in software and technology to determine how best to build out LegalMation’s award-winning software solutions.
Prior to cofounding LegalMation, Fox was in private practice for more than seven years focusing on commercial and patent litigation. He began his practice at a mid-sized firm before moving on to Bryan Cave LLP, and then to LTL Attorneys LLP, an award-winning litigation boutique. Through his practice, Fox acquired extensive skills in all facets of litigation, including obtaining multiple seven-figure trial decisions in his clients’ favor. He has argued cases before the California Court of Appeal as well as state and district courts throughout California and the Eastern District of Texas. Professor Fox has been named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyer each year since 2016.
Fox is a 2011 graduate of USC’s Gould School of law. Prior to attending law school, he graduated first in his class from Cal Poly with a degree in Computer Information Systems and spent five years working for a Fortune-100 company supporting its technology infrastructure.

Franita Tolson was interviewed about how federal lawsuits from North Carolina, Alabama, and Arkansas test the limits of the Voting Rights Act, the boundaries of state government authority, and the ability of voting rights groups to file racial gerrymandering cases. “These doctrines and approaches in these cases fundamentally reset the rules of the game,” she said. “In 2030 we will live in a completely different world than we lived in in 2020, and 2020 was not favorable to minority voters at all.”
