Andrea Hartman is an attorney with many years of experience in the corporate world. From 1994 through 2012, she worked in-house at NBCUniversal, most recently as executive vice president and general counsel of NBCUniversal Television Entertainment. She led a team of 40 lawyers supporting the entertainment division of NBC, NBCUniversal’s cable entertainment networks, and its broadcast and cable television studios. Before joining NBC, Hartman was a litigation partner with the law firm of Irell & Manella in Los Angeles, where she began her legal career as an associate.

Hartman received her JD cum laude from Harvard Law School. She graduated with a BA in history with highest honors from the University of California, Berkeley. She currently serves on the boards of the Riviera Tennis Foundation, which supports tennis programs for disadvantaged youth in Los Angeles, and the Simon Family Foundation, which provides scholarships and training to students facing difficult life and economic circumstances.

Re: Nomi Stolzenberg

Nomi Stolzenberg wrote an op-ed arguing that the idea of religious freedom is being used to undermine other rights. Three recent Supreme Court cases in particular have confused the idea of religious liberty and the separation between church and state. "Using the democratic process to resolve moral and policy disagreements is not discrimination, so long as every group gets due consideration," she writes.
