Tim Laske is an assistant United States attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. Previously, he was an associate at DLA Piper LLP, where he practiced commercial, employment, securities and white collar litigation. Laske obtained his BA from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and his JD from University of California, Hastings. At Hastings, he served as a board member of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, and was a senior executive editor for the communications and entertainment law journal. Laske currently serves as a member of the State Bar’s Judicial Nominees Evaluation Commission, which assists Governor Edmund (Jerry) Brown with reviewing applications for the California courts.

Re: Orin Kerr

Orin Kerr was cited for his recent editorial on his experience taking the California bar exam much later in life in order to practice law in another state. "It’s not like you can test lawyerly competence among 20 topics any better than with 10 topics," Kerr commented. "It just requires more time memorizing, and it’s not obvious what that has to do with lawyerly ability.”
