More than 100 students, alumni, faculty and staff gathered at USC’s Cromwell Field on April 16 to participate in the Student Bar Association’s 2nd Annual Softball Tournament.

Six games were played after third-year student Joanna Spilker sang the national anthem. The 3L Class took home the trophy, now called “The Swann Cup” after Breann Swann ’04 (pictured below with 3L Mark Furuya and assistant director of graduate relations Keven Jones), who launched the tournament last year. The alumni team took second place; the 1L team finished third.

The tournament was a free event designed to encourage all members of USC Law community to connect in an informal setting.

“Between Dean Spitzer’s antics and keg races by alumni and students, this year’s tournament was a lot of fun,” said Mark Furuya, SBA vice president and tournament coordinator. “We hope this event becomes a longtime tradition that draws even more alumni participation with each passing year. I know I want to come back next spring to help the Class of 2005 win another championship!”

T-shirts provided as tournament uniforms also offered a glimpse of USC Law’s new signature. The signature is part of a new visual identity system being developed by USC Law and will be incorporated into USC Law merchandise for next year.
