La Raza invites students to 9th Annual Judges & Lawyers Night
(Submitted by USC La Raza)
La Raza Law Students Association will hold its ninth annual Judges & Lawyers Night on Thursday, March 24, from 6-10 p.m. Created as a way to build stronger community ties between current law students and graduates working within the Los Angeles legal arena, the event has grown into one of the foremost opportunities for law students to meet and interact with members of USC’s renowned alumni network.
This year, La Raza has moved the event to USC’s historic Town & Gown banquet facility and has expanded its list of attendees to include elected officials and several state justices.
The evening will begin with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, as well as live music by a seven-piece mariachi band. After guests have arrived and had the opportunity to mingle, the program will start with an introduction by USC Law Dean Matthew Spitzer. La Raza will recognize Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley and Superior Court Judge Ana Maria Luna for their distinguished work in the public interest.
California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno, Appellate Court Justices Paul Boland and Candace Cooper, and numerous Superior Court judges and commissioners are confirmed to attend. Los Angeles City Councilmember Antonio Villaraigosa also will speak at the event.
Tickets are $15 general admission and $5 for students. For more information, please e-mail La Raza Co-Chair Oscar Medellin at omedelli@usc.edu.
