Alumni panelists exchange business cards with students and fellow USC Law grads

More than 60 students and alumni attended the "Careers in Entertainment Law" reception and panel discussion held this month. The event — the first of its kind presented by USC Law — was hosted by alumnus Stanton "Larry" Stein '69 of Alschuler, Grossman, Stein & Kahan.

Panelists included Stein, who heads his firm's Entertainment & Media Department; Thomas M. Hansen '78, who helped form a firm that represents individuals and companies involved in film and television; Stephanie A. Schroeder '91, vice president of business affairs and legal for Paramount Home Entertainment, where she is responsible for production and acquisition of direct-to-DVD pictures; and Walter Zifkin '61, chief executive officer emeritus of the William Morris Agency.

"It was an excellent networking opportunity for our students," said Career Services Assistant Dean Melissa Balaban. "The event was high-energy with a lot of business card exchanges. We hope to do three or four such mentor programs next year — not just in entertainment law but in other fields as well."
