3L Class Gift Campaign launches this week
Continuing a tradition established by the Class of 2003 and strengthened by the Class of 2004, this year’s 3L Class Gift Campaign will officially kick off on Monday, Jan. 31, with a 4 to 7 p.m. reception in the Carolyn C. and Carl M. Franklin Faculty Lounge.
Introduced two years ago, the 3L Class Gift – part of the USC Law Annual Fund – is an opportunity for soon-to-be grads to commemorate their time at USC Law by supporting scholarships and other programs, such as PILF and the Library and Information Technology Center Fund.
“The 3L Class Gift this year will be unique in that it will give our class the opportunity to choose how we would like to contribute back to the school,” says campaign co-chair Nina Sacks. “Students will be able to contribute to the Annual Fund, the library, financial aid for future students, or other areas of the school that are in need of funding. By showing our support, we can help ensure that USC Law programs we have helped build or preserve for the last three years remain strong for future USC Law students.”
More than 50 percent of the Class of 2004 participated in the campaign last spring, pledging a total of $19,311 over three years. In 2003, 43 percent of third-year students pledged $28,629.
These impressive participation rates signify a resounding vote of confidence for USC Law. Alumni participation is an important component of school rankings in publications like U.S. News and World Report, often used by prospective students when considering law school offers of admission. Corporations and foundations also examine alumni support as an indicator of satisfaction and strength when making decisions about directing their gifts to educational institutions.
“The 3L Class Gift committee is looking forward to building on the incredible momentum from the last two years,” says campaign co-chair Jeffrey Esser. “The campaign truly is a wonderful opportunity for our class, as future alumni, to ensure that the next generation of students will receive the same outstanding quality of education at USC Law.”
