Law School softball tournament a hit
Six Law School softball teams battled for a chance to win the coveted silver cup and bragging rights during a softball tournament sponsored by the Student Bar Association and USC Law alumni relations office on April 3. The six teams consisted of a faculty/staff team, two alumni teams, and 3L, 2L and 1L teams.
The SBA revived the softball tournament after a seven-year hiatus, with the hopes of bringing USC Law community and alumni together in a more casual setting.
“Events that allow students, faculty, staff, and alumni to interact in a casual environment make the Trojan network a reality and remind us that we belong not only to an academic institution, but also to a dynamic community of scholars and professionals,” said SBA Vice President Breann Swann.
Playing under double elimination rules, the faculty and staff team was the first team eliminated. The two alumni teams battled it out before both losing in their second games, paving the way for a law student playoff. The 3Ls were eliminated by two consecutive losses against the 1L and 2L teams. In the final game, the 2L team topped the 1Ls to take home the silver cup.
The event was attended by more 100 participants and observers, including faculty, staff, students, alumni and family members.
