USC’s PILF holds 14th annual auction
USC’s Public Interest Law
Foundation held its 14th annual auction on March 10
at Town and Gown, where hundreds of students, staff,
faculty and alumni gathered to raise money for the
organization’s summer grants and scholarships.
The total amount raised from the auction was $34,117.
Featuring a wide array of items, a silent auction started the night with items such as a poster from the film “The Hours,” autographed by Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore; an autographed television show script from the cast members of “The Shield”; a round-trip United Airlines ticket; and yoga classes.
The live auction was hosted by third-year student Jonathan Hicks and second-year student Christopher Gordon. Dean Matthew Spitzer led the initial bid on his donated item: the dean himself taking notes for one class. Among the items auctioned and their winning bids:
• A cruise for eight with
Professor Scott Bice on his yacht – $2,200
• Dinner for six with Professors Erwin Chemerinsky
and Catherine Fisk – $1,000
• Live jazz concert for three with Professor
Jody Armour – $900
• Note-taker for one class by Dean Matthew Spitzer
– $205
