Reference Assistance

The Reference Department seeks to assist users in the effective use of the Law Library and its resources. Librarians with expertise in general reference and many specialized subject areas provide help in the location and use of the Law Library's catalog, electronic resources, and collections, and in the development of research techniques.

The Research Librarians are available for consultation during the school year as follows:

  • Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Reference service also is available by telephone during these hours. Telephone service generally is limited to relatively short answer-type questions. The telephone number is (213) 740-5070; ask for the Reference Office.

The Reference Department is here to help. Do not hesitate to ask for assistance on any problem you may have. It often will take just a few minutes, and yet may save you valuable time in the long run.
