The Challenge Rules

Who is eligible:

Any firm, corporation or organization employing two or more USC Law alumni is eligible to participate in the Law Firm Challenge if they have at least one person willing to serve as a Challenge Representative. The Represenative will be responsible for encouraging fellow alumni at the firm to make gifts so together they can achieve 100 percent participation.

Competition Categories:

Firms compete in 3 groups based on the number of alumni employees: Group I (30 or more alumni), Group II (11 - 30 alumni) and Group III (2 - 10 alumni).

Law Firm Challenge Dates:

The Challenge runs annually from April 1 to June 19 but any gift made to USC Law between July 1 and June 19 counts towards an individual's participation in the Law Firm Challenge. All gifts must be received by June 19 to be counted.

How Gifts Can Be Made:

Gifts received online are the most immediate way to make your participation count but you may also:

  • Call (213) 743-1710 with credit card information ready.
  • Fax a gift form with credit card information to (213) 743-1800. You can download a form here.
  • Mail a gift form with check or credit card information to:
USC Law Development & Graduate Relations
1149 South Hill Street, Suite 340
    Los Angeles, CA 90015

What Counts Towards Participation:

Any monetary gift made to USC Law by a graduate from July 1 to June 19 counts toward this year's Challenge. This includes payment on a pledge (including the Class Gift Program) or a gift to your law school class reunion.

Tracking How Your Firm is Doing:

Throughout the Challenge, we will send Representatives periodic updates on how their firm or organization is doing. Progress can also be tracked online by visiting our web site here.

How to Win the Challenge:

Firms and organizations win when they reach 100% participation, meaning every alumni employee has made a gift of any amount this fiscal year.

Recognition:

Firms and organizations that achieve 100 percent participation will receive special public recognition including:

  • Signage prominently displayed in common student areas at USC Law, inside the Career Services Office, and during on-campus interviews in the fall
  • Public recognition in the Deliberations newsletter, USC Law's website, eNews, and our online annual donor report.

We also acknowledge each donor with a thank you letter.
