Everett L. Green earned a BA in History from UC Berkeley and a JD from Stanford University. Green served as an assembly fellow in the California State Legislature and clerked for Honorable Jack B. Schmetterer of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is currently a senior trial attorney in the United States Department of Justice where he specializes in Bankruptcy Litigation.

The deduction helps soften the blow for people who are uninsured or underinsured, and many homeowners’ policies do not cover the full value of their property, according to Simkovic.
