Stacey Snider to deliver keynote address, Saturday
Stacey Snider, chief executive officer, partner and co-chair of DreamWorks Studios, is the keynote speaker at USC Law’s Institute on Entertainment Law and Business, a marquee event for entertainment lawyers and professionals.
This year’s conference, “Fasten Your Seatbelt: The Quickening Entertainment Space,” will feature an in-depth examination of television rights deals, digital distribution of music, electronic communication, social networking, and merchandising from wholesale to retail. In addition, participants will hear about industry trends, real-world strategies for dealing with major challenges, and enjoy face-to-face interaction with entertainment players.
Co-sponsored by the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the USC Gould School of Law, the Institute on Entertainment Law and Business celebrates its 52nd anniversary and is a major Los Angeles headliner, attracting Hollywood’s key business and legal professionals.
The event runs from 8:50 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 22 on the USC campus.
For the lunchtime keynote presentation, Snider will be interviewed by Bruce Ramer, Institute chair, USC Trustee and partner in Gang, Tyre, Ramer & Brown, Inc. in Beverly Hills. Lunch begins at 12:45 p.m.
Snider is a partner of DreamWorks Studios with Steven Spielberg. She oversees the creative and financial aspects of all film development and production in addition to the company’s business strategy. Some of DreamWorks’ notable releases have included “Cowboys & Aliens” (a co-production with Universal Studios), “Flags of Our Fathers,” “Letters from Iwo Jima,” “Dreamgirls,” “The Kite Runner,” “Sweeney Todd” (a co-production with Warner Bros.), “Norbit,” “Blades of Glory,” “Disturbia” and “Transformers.” Snider joined DreamWorks in 2006.
A morning session will feature an FCC Update:The Intersection of Broadband, Spectrum and Media. In addition, sessions will focus on how the Internet is affecting the industry, monetizing the Internet, the effect of EU and Latin America laws on production, distribution and revenues from audiovisual works, and trends in TV distribution.
